You only cut the 19" off the beginning strip... that way it helps to stagger the strips so the joins don't all end up at the same spot in the quilt.

I just watched Jenny's tutorial from Missouri Quilts ... Coin Quilts with a little Pizzazz. Use a bright color for the borders ... only a yard.

Add an assortment of reds to perk them up.

That jelly roll sounds great! I'd add a few lighter grays, beiges and whites. Make a log cabin, spiral log cabin, split log cabin, bento box, a braid, a jelly roll starburst, rail fence, square in a square - hmmm wanna trade it?

I have bought some like that. I went to my stash and cut some colors that brightened them up. I love your bag sandygirl.

They'll make a great background for large scale applique. I put them together using the 1600 jelly roll method and then it'll tell me what it wants for applique.

a jelly roll makes nice stars or a tube quilt. just add some yardage and go for it.

I got a couple of those one time. Most of them are not the full width of the fabric and some are a lengthwise piece, at least mine were, and like yours, a somber mix. I mixed them in with leftovers from other jelly rolls I had around, and cut up some scraps, and made a jelly roll 1600. It turned out really nice. You could do anything with them, use them for borders, many things to do with them, just mix them up with some brighter colors.
