What color for the center of a Log Cabin if I am using purple?

I also like green with purple. Maybe a chartreuse green?

Red is the traditional. People who know quilting know that the center of the Log Cabin is red and should be just that. It matches any color because of the meaning of the red square. Every sampler quilt that I make I have the center block as the Log Cabin and the center of the Log Cabin, regardless of the main color of the quilt, is always red. It goes way back and the meaning was the welcome to the home with the fire in the fireplace. You change the color and it isn't a Log Cabin anymore. Edie

I agree. What an interesting question to ask. I would suggest to look at a Color wheel
Complimentary of purple is yellow
Analogous would be a blue purple or a red purple
I might go wild and try red for the center.
Have fun. Have you asked Hot Rod??

Yellow would be my first choice to try. It pops as the complement to purple.
Lime green looks happy and youthful.
Grey--sophisticated
Tangerine---modern
Turquoise--soothing
Red--traditional
I guess it's a mood thing. I'm sure you'll know it when you see it.

the first thing that came to mind for me was black. It would certainly depend on the actual fabrics you are planning to use. A deep purple as the center or I like you thoughts of yellow. It would "jump out" at the viewer.
