Gail, I wouldn't do a D9P with 14 different fabrics. I did and I like it but it's kind of busy with nothing really standing out.
I like your idea of the soft brown.
Can't wait to see pics :D:D

I've noticed that we seem to "hop on fast" whenever someone wants an opinion LOL :D:D:D
I don't know about washing first though, sorry!

I did a Turning 20 (with 13 fabrics) for our little girl - she's 3. She sleeps w/it every night. It wound up being big enough to double up in her crib. Would be a nice lap size quilt. I just loved it. :) Good Luck.

And they now have some variations on T20 a really good idea.

Ha! I'm pretty quick with my own opinion often times. And thanks for the tip about the D9P. I'll stay away from that one.
I don't know about the pictures. I'm ignorant in that category.

Thanks! I have always thought that 20 fabrics were necessary for the T20. I've got a book but really have studied it at all. I will definitely look into that one as well.

And thanks, QuiltingaddictUK. I will have to look into the variations also.

D 4-patch. 18 x 18. the leftover 4" folded in half to make a wide binding that changes color every 18". absolutely no waste
and you can mix it with blenders within the finished blocks to extend the size.

(tutorial)

IMO, it looks best using two fabrics for each block, but many people like to mix them up.
