Great Idea no reason that I could not do two! I have to decide what color to use for squares and what for sashing. I don't have the same sage material to use for the little squares in between the spikes so will have to try something else. I think the applique idea the best as some of the sewing is by hand, large stiches and the fabric is old . That way the fabric will be strengthened by the square it is attached too. Any ideas for color on squares? I was thinking solid squares and perhhaps very small print sashing.

Looks good framed ! I noticed that the little squares inbetween the spikes is same as the long cone. I don't have the same fabric as the cone in my case so I will have to use some contrasting stuff.

I am getting ready to make a Nosegay quilt for my roommate's grandmother.
I generally make all of the "points" on the nosegay of the same fabric and the squares in either a green or a co-ordinating color.. I think a dark green 2 or 3 shades darker than the "cones" would be very nice on yours.
Then appliqueing to a white on white background would be lovely. Good luck with your project.. can't wait to see it finished. I think I'll do mine on point also.
