Because I always buy more material than I need I obviously have material for future quilts. Before I start cutting I would like to know
what is the best way to cut scraps - do I cut all FQs, strips, squares, etc. My fabric would appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks.

agree I leave them in as big of a piece as I can...however, I do have two specific size scraps -- strips of any width (usually less than 3 inches wide though) and then squares. Those are usually when I strip cut and have extras left over in smaller pieces.

Some people cut them up into certain sizes that they tend to use a lot of. I leave mine whole, stuffed into drawers, until I need to find a specific color or pattern, or else throw them all in a bag for give-away!!

I like to cut up my scraps into 5" charms, 4", 3" 2.5" and strips of over 1.5 inches. What I cut them into depends on what shape fabric I have left. If it is a FQ or better I leave it whole. This way I have ready to use scrappy squares for most blocks.
