Exclamation What do you like to make with yo-yos?

I received a large kitchen size trash bag of yo-yo's. I would say they are the small size yo-yos made from scraps, so I have a variety of fabrics and colors. Some are in sandwich Zip-lock bags that are the same fabric (8-10 yo-yos to a bag). I have embellished quilts with yo-yos by stitching around the outer edges so the center of the yo-yo pops out a bit, like a flower. I would like to hear what others are making with their yo-yo's.

As always, Thanks for your help!

Thanks for the smile popover, I think I would do the same thing. But, back to copy cat, my favorite pattern I have seen with yo yo's is a pineapple display that was framed. Brown/gold yo yos were sewn into a pineapple shape with green leaves appliqued on. Really cute gift idea.

How small is small? You could use designs that are generally used for hexies, or make flowers out of and applique onto blocks...go to Pinterest for tons of ideas......and have fun

Purses, totes, table toppers, centers for flowers, I use them for all kinds of items other than quilts. Browse Pinterest for yo yo quilting... thousands of pictures to inspire you.

Trip Around the World quilt top (any size), pillows, throws, embellishments (use a pretty button in the center to cover the hole)...If you think of it, it probably can be made using yo-yos. I've seen vests, scarves and jackets made from them, too.

Thanks for the great ideas. I like hearing from the board members because they are so talented and generous to share their project ideas. I love pinterest for inspiration, too.

I forgot to mention, that my cat's favorite toy is a yo-yo with a pom-pom sewn in the center. He bats it around like a hockey puck all day long...great exercise.

By small, I mean the size yo-yo's made from the small circle template that is sold in stores and quilt shops.
    Thank you for the tips!

I have seen dolls and animals made from them. The yo-yo's are used for the arms and legs by stacking them and stringing through the center.

Here is my favorite yo-yo quilt: http://allthingsshabbyandbeautiful.t...st/47988255248

Make Christmas cards for all your quilting friends with red yo yos in a pot for poinsettias, green ones in the shape of a Chrustmas tree etc. Use a line of them and embroidered hooks above them on a mantel scarf to suggest Christmas ornaments. Sew them together in long rows for garlands for your Christmas tree.
