What is flat fold fabric?
#1
A lqs near me is having an inventory sale. In the notice they mention Flat fold fabric $4.00 a yard 1 yard minimum
What is flat fold? Is that stuff already off the bolt or something?
I feel stupid for asking lol

Well don't feel stupid. I don't know if this is right or not it just makes sense. At the Ben Franklin I go to has a table of just folded fabrics. They fold them like they were on a bolt but they aren't. Those are the sale fabrics. My favorite table.
We'll see what others say. I"m curious too. :-D

Don't feel stupid - you have to ask to learn! And yes, you are correct. It could be off the bolt for any number of reasons, but I think usually it is the remnant after most of the bolt has been sold.

I buy a lot of flat folds from my supplier. They are usually 5 yards or less. They are from the end of the manufacturers bolts that are just not enough to make a full (store) bolt. Quilt shop bolts hold 15-18 yds. The fabrics are the same. My supplier calls when they get in a new line and I just buy the flat folds.
