A while back I bought 2 packs of the basting safety pins. Absolutely dull. I did find a use for them- the tarp over my barn door just separated horizontally along seam during a windstorm Friday. Just pinned it together! It will hold til I can get a new tarp put up. I've found their regular straight pins to be dull also.

If you look at the package, it will probably say 'Made in China' - I bought some Dritz denim iron-on patches that didn't stick at all. Wasn't worth the trip (1-1/2 hours round trip) to return them, but I've decided I'm not buying anything made in China if I can help it. Means going without sometimes, but my budget isn't complaining! It seems like most stuff from there is shoddy, low quality and inconsistent. I've been reading about how some manufacturers are bring their production back here - I would rather pay a little more and get a product that works the way it is supposed to and means someone else here at home has a job. Just saying.

I bought a package of the yellow balled Dritz pins at JoAnn's about a year ago, but just recently opened the package up, I haven't had the same problem as you, my problem is that the ball just comes off the pin, this has happened on at least 18 pins, but since I don't have the receipt and am not planning on going up to Klamath Falls, OR., which is the closest JoAnn's, about 100 miles, 1 way.
