Oh man had to laugh. There are many people who aren't fond of sunbonnet sue. I happen to be part of that group. My daughter in law is an old soul. Loves sun bonnet sue. Has asked me to make 2 !! Yikes! What is one to say when it's for my 2 darling grand daughters.

You say "Of course sweetie, what colors would you like" Then you dig deep and sew on while planning your next quilt in your head that is NOT a Sunbonnet Sue. Tee-Hee-Hee!

Sewbizgirl, I am with you abut Sun Bonnet Sue. The only SBS I even look at are the "How many ways to kill Sun Bonnet Sue". Now that is inspiring!!!

Because you are appliquéing them, you could lay these out in a curved way, switching directions across the quilt top (like a chevron). Because they are stitched on the edges, you could even overlap them a bit to make them fit whatever you decide. Hope I don't miss it when you post the finished quilt. :-)

I don't care for Sun Bonnet Sue or Sam but I have no idea why. Have fun with your creativity!

Yep, SBS to me also. I would use them in a dresden or a fan quilt.

LOL, I don't even like that one. Too vicious. I don't mean to hurt anyone's feelings who love Sue. I just never have.

I also don't care for Grandmother's Flower Garden. Guess we all have our faves and least faves.

I think I'll try the wedges and make some Grandmother's Fan blocks. It won't be a whole quilt. I'll be lucky to be able to make a half dozen blocks, or maybe just four!

I am like you when it comes to Sue, lol. That being said, I am afraid I agree with others that these were meant to be her dresses. I really like the suggestion of cutting them into wedges for a fan pattern. You could also use them cut in half for the petals of a flower/flowers in a wall hanging.
