Default What was her name and show?

Hi Everyone,
I am sitting here by my computer racking my brain trying to remember this one famous quilt designer, instructor and her show. All I can remember is that every time she cuts her fabric pieces out she tosses fabric over her shoulders. She has these quilt parties when she is making a quilt and invites people to these parties and it is a blast to watch her show and listen to her. I cannot seem to remember her name or show.

Is it Eleanor Burns? She throws her fabric over her shoulders, but I don't remember quilt parties.

I believe you are thinking about Quilt In A Day by Eleanor Burns.

The comments above are correct about Eleanor Burns. However, I have had quilting parties where I have the quilt already in a frame and hand quilters come and quilt. I have a lunch prepared and they come and go as they please, as some can stay longer than others. It is great fun and we get a quilt finished while we visit.

Eleanor Burns has been given the title of Queen of Quilting by the quilt world. She is a treasure. Her story and that of the Doan family are very similar. Both started with practically nothing and turned it into a quilting empires.

Here's one of the parties, a little different than the usual tv show format.

I have this one bookmarked because I used her technique with rickrack (starts around minute 18) when making my fan quilt last year. Good old Eleanor, the throwing over the shoulder thing gets to me but I've learned a thing or two and have bought a tool or book or two in my time as well.

It is the Eleanor Burns videos. I love watching her-she is really funny and has a lot of fun showing her audience her antics.
I have watched some of her shows and she has the ladies bring up to the front of the audience quilts that they have made.

I went to a 3 day workshop with her several years ago. We did 3 different quilts. She had different activities each evening for the group including a wonderful trunk show. She was the nicest person to talk to and so patient when someone had a question about a technique.
