I started a quilt many years ago and it was going to be a fence rail. I started it before I had a 1/4" foot. Then I let it age for a few years, then decided to make it a kalidescope quilt. but the points are far from exact. I was thinking I would cover buttons in fabric, but I'm not sure how to cover them so the fabric won't fray, so then I considered beads. But what kind of beads would you use on a quilt that you're going to wash frequently?

I'll take any other suggestions you may have to cover up the centers too. I'm open to all ideas.

    Thanks!!!

Why not just use the buttons without covering them? I embellish with buttons all the time and there are some very unique ways of sewing them on, too. Lots of colors, shapes, sizes, whatever you like.

I couldn't find buttons that were the size I wanted in the right colors.

hhhmmm, hadn't considered mini yo-yo's... that might work... now I have to figure out how to make a yo-yo. thanks!!!
