Absolutely the colors for me. That goes for most things - I'm just a color fiend! I notice colors in everything and form strong opinions based on them.

I'm embarrassed to admit, but it takes one heck of an amazing quilting job for some quilts to look more than "pretty but boring" to me. I'm jaded by jewel and earth tones, I think.

I'm drawn to the colors and the ways they blend sometimes and in some quilts the way they pop out from each other. After that I look at the design, but it's the color selection I think that can really make a quilt say,"Come closer and look at me".

It is the colors in a quilt.

I agree with BellaBoo. It is the look that shows the colors to their best.

I love the colors and certain styles, I love traditional styles I guess or old fashion, pastels and reds and whites are some of my favorites.

I love them all! Colors attract me first but knowing what goes into them always gives a WOW factor to me. Baltimore quilts and anything completely hand done wins my heart every time.

It takes it all to make it work for me.

Some quilts I love even though there might not be much contrast. Other quilts have the contrast but the textures are so equal that the overall effect is more than just disappointing.

AliKat, I agree with all that you said, and if a quilt really makes me say, "Wow!", I think there is also something indefinable in how it all comes together, something different...
