I got so sick and tired of cheap ironing boards. I visited my favorite 2nd hand, antique store and bought an old wooden ironing board. It is sturdy, heavy and has a wider, longer surface, $12. I like a harder surface to press material so I covered it with 2 layers of Warm and natural batting and a pretty fabric from my stash. I made a template of the board and cut the fabric large enough to sew a pocket into for a draw string and tied it on. I love it

I also use the tip I learned on the QB about putting a piece of freezer paper on the cover to protect it from glues and heavy starching when working with them. Just iron it on and peel it off when done. I love this too!
peace

I use the Measure Matic. It's great because I can quickly line up my blocks and make sure I'm even as I'm pressing. The lines are easy to see and I think I paid $39.99 on Amazon.

edit: found it on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AENKNH8
