Hi Quilters, I am still learning, never too old they say. I just read an old post in pictures. It said an OBW quilt. Can someone explain to me what this is? Thank you for your patience-Toogie

It is where you stack a number of repeats of the same material, matching the pattern of each cut of repeats and cut them together. I do eight point stars that way and each star is different. Check out you-tube and you will see many videos.

OBW means One Block Wonder. One Block which when cut as the previous poster says, becomes a Wonderful quilt.
Often called Kaleidoscope quilts. Check out some videos and be amazed.

Look up Bethany Reynolds' videos. One block wonders are her "thing".

There's a good tutorial for making an OBW in the tutorial section by Cutebuns. I used it to make my first-ever quilt (What was I thinking?!) But it turned out just fine. I used glue to help keep points lined up.

Just discovered them myself. Totally intrigued!! My guild had a LQS owner to do a program and to teach a class on One Block Wonders. We used the book "One Block Wonders by Maxine Rosenthal". I had made a Stack and Whack by Bethanny Reynolds in the past and IMHO it was more complicated to make than the OBW. Stack and whack has a lot of points to be matched making star shapes and the OBW uses hexagons or octogons being sewn with straight lines and is way more forgiving of slight imperfections.
There are a lot of discussions (threads) here on the forum about OBW, do a search and check out all the ones made by members here. Spectacular!
