I went to my thrift store yesterday to see if they had any good fabric finds by any chance and low and behold I found 2 pieces of great cotton. Each piece was 3.5 yards by 44" long with no flaws. The price tag on each was $2. My question to you very knowledable ladies however is what should I make out of it? I think I would like something with large enough blocks so you can see the design. I don't know what to do. I am over thinking it . Got any ideas?

how about the simplest thing??

cutting 8" blocks of the anchors, then do the same with the stripes...then sew them together, but TURN the stripes, going horizontal on one row and vertical on the next..it will look great and be quick too boot!

Ditto to Jacquie...using the stripes in a diagonal fashion would be great. Also would be a great veterans quilt. Good find.

I think a Disappearing Nine Patch... use a solid blue for the middle block ... think it would be quite striking

be sure to show us what you decide :)

If it was my fabric, I would add some Black Kona Cotton and WOW and make it the way Jacqui suggested, but adding the WOW for the finishing framing and Black for your outside Borders.

Lucky woman! That's beautiful fabric! How ever you use it, please think about doing a bias binding with the stripe. Love those striped bindings...

My first thought was that they would make great beach totes.

Fabrics are beautiful. If you add another color I would vote for navy blueinstead of black. I like Jacqie's idea the best, would really show the fabs off very nice.

What about making some boat blocks with solid colours and using the other fabrics for sashing and borders.
