I've had a Fiskars mat for more than 10 years, but it's really looking bad now. It's time, and I just recently bought another mat and I have a larger mat, but need a larger cutting table for it. I bought another Fiskars -- seems to really hold up well ! Of course, I don't use it as much as most of you do, so it doesn't get the wear! It works just fine!

I've been using my June Taylor mat for 8-10 years now and really like it. I prefer using a firm cutting surface. It is starting to show its age - lines partially gone in spots, crevasses from cutting in the same area too often, fuzz in some of them from trimming fleece backing/batting. Will most likely get the 24"x36" one this time.

I found mine as a quilt show special, The Big Mat, which I love, and it is guaranteed for five years. It comes in several sizes and can also be ordered through www.sewingemporium.com. The rotary cutting blades don't have to be changed so often.

Omnigrid for me - had it four years. My only one with lines/grooves in it is the Olfa one. Wouldn't buy Olfa again.

I agree with Ranbro. My Martelli's mat beats the rest (and I have them) I think visibility is a key in choosing a mat, i.e. can you see the markings on the mat.

SO TRUE! I made it home with one that I would use and then put back in garage. I tried leaving it outside, wiping with recommended solution. Finally got rid of it. It was green?
