I am looking for a cardinal or a bird pattern that could be blue bird or whatever. It can be pieced or applique though simple is preferred.
Thanks. My grandmother who passed away this year loved birds and I am sort of making this in memory of her.

Do you need a pattern that is online? Here's an applique cardinal, but you will probably need a printer to shrink it down in size. Looks like it was an entire quilt and the bird fits on a regular sized sheet of paper.

I have some bird patterns I have collected over the years, but I couldn't find any of them for sale on the net.

Hopefully this will help.
I have three books that I basically call my 'go to books'!
All three have bird patterns!! :)
The names of the books are "Block Magic", "Block Magic, Too" and "505 Quilt Blocks" (this last one is by Better Homes and Gardens).
Block Magic has what they call 'Country bird' 6", 8", 10" or 12"
Block Magic too has a 'Bluebird' and a 'Cardinal' same sizes as above.
505 Quilt Blocks has 'Bluebird' (different from above) 'Cardinal' (again different) 'Crow' and 'Dove'. These blocks are all 4".
Good luck! I don't know if this is allowed but I may be able to get you a copy of them if you need me to. I think that is okay as long as they are for personal use only. But instead of posting them here I could possibly snail mail them to you. Just let me know! :-)

Quiltmaker magazine a few years back had a cardinal on the cover. It was all paper piercing, but the finished product looked so nice. I have the book, but will have to look for it. Let me know if you are interested in that one.

Oh, I have just the thing for you.
It is a 48" X 57" wall or lap quilt made of seven different 15" X 10.5" Bird Blocks. You can either purchase all seven birds or do as I did and buy just the cardinal. I'm just making a small wall hanging for a woman I visit in a nursing home. She. too, is a bird lover. I just want a small hanging to put on her door.

To get the pattern, first search:
Quilters Corner (this is a quilt shop in Ithaca, NY)
Click on their website and then go to Block of the Month Kits. You'll see it. It is called "Feathered Friends"
It is curved piecing and applique. Not hard. Very unique, since a woman from this shop designed the pattern.
