I use Aurifil exclusively for piecing. It is thinner so seams lay flatter, and it has very little lint - and lint is a major issue for my computerized machines....

I vote for Aurfil as my favorite 'high-end' thread for machine piecing. it stays in place and doesn't unravel at the ends by the time you go to join into blocks and rows. And I quilt with it too - so pretty!

But I have learned to use So-Fine and Bottom Line without the unraveling and - other than being hard to pick out stitches when I have to undo something it is a nice flat seam.

Don't tell the QP I am using poly on cotton pieces LOL

I use Mettler thread mostly. I have bought from connecting /thread s and it is nice thread, but my machines seem to hate it.

Works for me too. I use a 401a for piecing and it seems to like it. It's what I was taught to quilt with back in the 70's and I've had no problems..

Bearisgray, you made me laugh out loud! I share your shame. I have a Singer 500 and C&C is all I use. Of course, back when my Rocketeer was made, that's what everyone used.

If I'm sewing through different colors, or I don't have a matching color, I use gray.
