Default what is wrong with this quilt?

A friend gave me some oriental fabrics and with a little addition I started on a fan quilt. I thought since it is a scrappy quilt it will be ok.
Today I have placed made block on the floor to take a look and I really do not care for it. Even my DH who usually will say 'this is nice' only said 'interesting'

What is wrong with it and can it be saved?
I think I am just venting!

Perhaps turning some of the blocks instead of orienting them all the same will help. The fabrics are beautiful.

I think it is very pretty. Perhaps you'd like it better with a blue sashing?
And quilting will liven it up too.

Dont give up yet....try turning the blocks in each row in a different direction, and take a picture... I think the fabrics are beautiful...also audition a n inner border of the white and then a black and use one of the fabrics as a 5 '' outer border. Just another option.

Try placing the blocks on point and fill in the edge with the background triangles.

I think I would have used solid colors for the quarter-circle. Otherwise, I think it's great.

I would try block rearranging like others have suggested and my brain is wondering how dark thread quilting would ease the starkness of the white against the dark fans? Lots of suggestions here - don't forget to show us what you decide. Good luck with your project.

If you're willing to do some ripping and re-sewing, changing the centers to have a strong contrast with the rest of the fan looks appealing to me. Here is what dark, solid centers would look like.

I also like the suggestion of putting the blocks on point.

I like it better as platyhiker shows in above picture. Using a black fabric on all of those places.

How about this arrangement and put the center block black or the orange/salmon color? I am sorry I don't know who the original quilt was made by, I think it might be Green Fairy, but not sure, I love the FMQ.
