All of these ideas are so wonderful! I will have to save them in a wish book -- I've made my goal for April to get everything unpacked and organized and not just the sewing room. I had new kitchen cabinets delivered yesterday and the installation is set for next week. My May goal is to open the box of the serger I bought 2 years ago and learn to use it. With limited space I could never seem to get it out. Now I'll have no excuses. Of course, part of my May gaol will probably be finishing my April goal!

I have all the gadgets but my favorite notion, a gift from my sweet daughter, is a thread catcher. It's fabulous for having pins handy and all those cut threads go right in the holder and off my floor and out of my vacuum cleaner beater bar...

The prettiest and best made ones I've ever seen come from Ann Chalk @ www.nstitches4u.etsy.com Her items are beautiful.

Try one and you'll wonder how you ever lived without it. (in fact, I now have two: one by my machine and one shared with my ironing board and cutting table.)

Besides all the "sewing" stuff, I like having pictures up. I tape them to my fabric cabinet so I can see them. Plus having a view to look out while I am sewing. I can see my dogs running around exploring.

For me the #1 must have is a cutting table high enough so you don't have to bend over although all the other things mentioned are nice haves. This would be my must have.

Congrats on your new "digs." You will love having your own room for sewing.

    design wall
drop down machine mechanism to provide a flush surface for your sewing.
    good lighting all around
    cutting table at correct height

I can think of a lot of things I"D like. Great lighting would be at the top of my list. Adequate storage, outlets have been mentioned also. Yes, the TV and CD player. A good stock of hard candy -- mainly root beer barrels(I've replaced the chocolate) and bottled water. A cover for the clock.
