Default What are your Quilting Goals this New Year ?

Happy Quilting New Year! One of my quilting goals this new year involves....Time management. Next of course is being organized enough to know what to do when I have the time...sound familiar?

Please share ways that you carve out time to work on your quilting projects. I am not retired yet and the days fly by and then the weeks and I haven't taken time to quilt. I have 2 baby quilts to make so these projects are priority.

Wishing everyone a safe and happy quilting new year!

Yes, that's correct.

copycat- I did an 8 day cleanup of my sewing room. It was long and tiring but I love the results! I know I'm going to be more productive, in fact in one day I finished 2 projects that were buried in all the mess.

My other goals this year (cleaning it was my first) are get better with ruler work and improve machine quilting. Since Covid I've gotten better at it.

My goal is to start/finish the quilts I have "kitted". I spend hours gathering fabric from my stash. I get everything ready. Then I see another shiny object, and decide that I have to work on that one first. The fabric for Eleanor Burn's Fools Puzzle, is sitting on my dining room table. Toni Whitney's Great Blue Heron's fabric is in a tote on the dining room floor, and for the 3rd Christmas in a row I did not do the Christmas Deer quilt I have all ready to go!! So many choices, so little time!! Oops...maybe a time management problem! I also have two tops ready to finish....

I'm feeling stuck right now on personal projects, but have some customer quilts to work on and know that will get me going on personal stuff too.

Improve my FMQ and get more creative on FMQ designs, learn and add ruler work to my quilting, and finish three projects that have been started for several years, but not completed (civil war quilt 1/2 the blocks are complete, double wedding ring throw ready for quilting, and a patriotic quilt that about 1/2 of the blocks are completed).

I would like to increase the number of quilts I make this year. I received a couple of handy tips from another post about kitting projects and planning ahead so I hope that will help. I normally only get 2 or 3 large quilts done each year and about a half dozen children quilts but I hope to double that this year. Maybe I should be less worried about being organized so I can get more sewing done. LOL

Never-ending goal: organizing my workspace. Thankfully, I can work among chaos.
Working on folding fabric onto magazine boards. Fold for a while, then sew for a while.
I will need a wedding gift quilt for my second cousin's wedding in May! (Yea, vaccines!)

What I plan to do is finish quilts get the basted and quilted. This season of COVID had me make 9 quilt tops that are sitting here and I only finished one. I have another that needs a binding. So finishing all these is the goal.
