What's the Most Unusual Item You've Ever Made?

In the 1970's someone gave me a kitchen table and 4 chairs. the chairs were covered in brown velvet. I hated it. I made new vinyl covers for bothe backs and chairs by sewing three inch strips of oragne, brown and beige autombile material together and then tacked it together with the cute upholstery tacks. It was washable and lasted until I brought something more modern.

I made a 6ft x 6ft chuppah or canopy for my son and his American bride to be married under. I had never quilted before so it was quite a challenge! I went on to complete a 2year P and Q course as a result. I am British and the quilt lives in Virginia. Have recently completed butterfly cot quilts for their brand new twin daughters.

The most unusual item I've ever sewed was a candy corn costume for my granddaughter when she was about 11 or 12. I had to use heavy duty heat and bond for the fabric, draft it, cut and sew. The top was a white mitered hat, the body was the orange candy, and the bottom was the yellow part. She has used it several times in the intervening years. It has really held up.
I've also made two piece lion, tiger, bear, and cat costumes. two pc because I always thought they would use them more than once, but the only one I enlarged for one of them was the white kitty cat ..

I have made a wide variety of odd objects, including tents, one on a viking model, a fabric barrier to go around an outdoor tournament field, shoes, a flag-themed cowboy hat, a sail for my boat, a quiver for my dad's arrows, a huge number of costumes, a set of flags on Biblical motifs for my church, wrist supports and a quilted cover for my leg brace. I was also commissioned to make a quilt of the Virgin Mary blessing our valley. My younger son was invited to an "antebellum ball". The whole thing fell flat because the guys were unwilling or unable to get into costume, but my son was ready for it anyway.
