We all have done that and it hurts but as you see by the number of responses, we have all recovered. I picked out all of the stitches on a lap quilt for the very same reason early in my quilting days. That little bugaboo is now my favorite quilt, mostly because we spent so much time together.

As the saying goes, this should make you stronger. While making these zipper bags, I realized what I did after I did it...cut off the pull! I had to rip the end of the zipper tape to repair (which is a learned lesson,too!). I broke the tip off of the seam ripper. I didn't even know that was possible!

Had to order another one online because it is impossible to shop at the Joann's. They only allow 5 shoppers at a time. Every time I drive by, there is over 20 people standing in line in the hot sun.

Well I certainly feel your pain! Not that I have had too many issues in the 12 years I've had my machine but just recently I was doing an intricate (remember this word) pantograph and I heard a different sound from the machine but the stitches looked fine on top, so I kept going. Finished the row, rolled the quilt, did another row, the first row (when the noise started) came into view on the take up roller on the back side. The pattern was about 13 inches wide a went the length of the table and remember the word. Trust me, I feel your pain. Days, not hours, of ripping. And since it was sandwiched between 2 rows I couldn't skin it. I hope you enjoyed the cooking show. BTW, nice feathers.

Those feathers are so pretty too! I sure feel your pain. As someone else said, as a novice quilter if makes me feel better knowing that experienced quilters sometimes have problems too. Hope you enjoyed your baking show.

Well, couldn't find my baking show, so I ended up going between Blacklist and Grace and Frankie on Netflix. All told, it took over 7 1/2 hours to rip out all the stitches. And 15 minutes to put them in.

Now, I just need to get the motivation to do them over.

Thanks for the funny (sort of ) stories. They made me feel better.

Give your backing fabric a good starch before requilting. I find found once the fabric folds on the backing, it tends to want to do it again..
