Can anyone on here give simple directions on how to make a jewelry roll?

I haven't made one, but I've bought them. They are usually about 40 2-1/2 inch wide strips (44" long)with only a few being duplicates. Hope this helps.

There are lots of free jewelry roll patterns online. I like this one from Pfaff a lot.

You were thinking Jelly Roll. (That is what I first read too.)

I have one that is made of 2- faced fabric circles. One smaller than the other, placed on top of larger circle, then sewn to make pockets. Ribbon running through top is pulled to gather it all up into a little bag. Grand daughters use them to keep trinkets in.

Thanks for asking the question! And thanks everyone else for the patterns! I needed the pattern but just hadn't gotten around to asking/looking yet. :-)
