where do you get your inspiration?

I get quite a bit from this board. The only problem is that I can't seem to stop looking/reading and actually get about the business of quilting!! Fortunately, spending so much time on hte board seems to come in spurts, so I do get a little bit done. It really is inspirational to see others' quilts and projects.

Start really looking at your surroundings. You would be surprised what you find. My mom and I were in Houston at a hotel and we both thought the pattern on the carpet in the hall would make a great quilting design! You just never know what you will come up with.

I enjoy looking at the quilts on the board. I am not good at following instructions so try to figure it out without a pattern - other than my sketches. I bought three books/ patterns of the 3 I could understand 1.

when i watch the sun come up i think of quilts...when i'm driving home from work i'm seeing trees and snow, lakes and rivers and quilted scenes for 18 miles
i quilt in my sleep, i do some of my best (trouble shooting) in the middle of the night... everywhere i go i picture new quilts
