Default Where to find this

I'm looking for pictures or ideas of quilts that would have a German inspired flavor. I can recall a trunk of quilts that were my grandparents who arrived in America from Germany/Austria in 1903. After their deaths the quilts remained in the trunk and we were never allowed to touch them. How sad is that? Now I would like to make a quilt that might reflect our heritage. Where can I find some patterns or quilts that would have a German influence?

What happened to your quilts? I would try to find them. Just Google your search; German inspired quilts. You can also tap into the board search for members who may be German born or still live in Germany/Austria.

You could try contacting some of the German members here on the board. (Members can be searched for by location by doing an Advanced Search in the Members List) - here's the list of our German members.

get into Germany Yahoo and search for quilt images. You might find inspiration there.

Have you thought of making a family tree quilt showing where your family came from?? Just a thought.

Long story short the quilts are long gone as is the house they were originally in.
