I'm trying to picture it...but I'm fairly sure that the white ones don't have the gold scrollwork...
I'm going to go check a couple of websites...

The only decals on the White FW are the letters "SINGER"...there are no "base" decals.

Nope, no pretty gold lines, it's like not having underwear on, but she is still dinky.

I think the white ones are from Gt. Britian...they are actually a little bit greenish.

The tan featherweights (made in Canada) don't have any scroll work either. Both the white and the tan machines were the last Featherweights made and Singer was trying to cut down costs. As a result, no scroll work or metal face plates, cords are wired directly into the machine and are not removable, machine flip up bed is shorter and the attachments (fewer than the old black models) came in a cardboard box rather than in a machine tray. The machine belts are often a brown ridged plastic rather than the smooth belt of the older models and cases were two tone hard edged green or brown ones or a much softer gray or turquoise vinyl looking like a small square suitcase (1963 model). They are still Featherweights and they still sew well.

I have a white featherweight. In mint condition and there is no scroll work. But she's awesome!

Thank you all. Did not know why Singer made some with white and tan colors. I did wondered if it was newly painted.

Be aware that the white machines (at least mine) has hardwired foot controls and cords. I would not feel comfortable replacing one and it would have to be done at the repair shop. I had mine replaced since it was bad when i got it a long time ago.

Just a warning. I like to be able to unplug the cord on my black ones.

I think the ridged plastic belts are aftermarket. Singer used cloth covered rubber. The belt on the white Featherweight was white.

the white's are precious too! No decales on the bed and they don't seem to be as quiet and smooth as the black featherweights!

You are correct, they are slightly greenish in color and they are from Gt. Britian.

For anyone interested, there is a white one listed on Craigslist right now in Southern NJ. Asking $500. Way pricey in my opinion but thought I'd throw it out there for anyone interested.
