I did this on an Advent calendar -- I used white thread and then used markers to match the thread to the color in the print. DD kept asking what kind of thread I used and how did I get the right color in the right place. I finally told her -- and it did withstand a number of washings (I ironed over it before I washed it to make sure it set).

I have a supply of Sharpies in just about all colors, I bought them when I realized what a big help they are in the making of quilts. I have had some fabrics that have had little imperfections in them - I just color them in with my Sharpie of the same color, I have also blended 2 colors to get a better match. Gotta love Sharpies!

Yep, sharpies are quilters' friends! But do be careful. Once I made a small, appliqued wall hanging. Some of the fabric on front was white while the backing was a dark purple print. Some of the white thread showed up on the back so I colored the white spots with a matching purple sharpie. It seemed like a good idea EXCEPT the purple ink migrated through the white thread to the front! The batting did not make a difference. That was sickening but I found some cotton white lace trim with little flowers. I cut the white flowers apart and stitched them down over the purple spots. Whew!
