We make prayer quilts for our church and simply cut 5 1/2" squares and go 8 squares across and 10 rows down. With borders, it makes a nice size quilt to wrap up in....bigger than a lap quilt. This nice things is you can use up tons of scraps. The more varied the colors and patterns, the more interesting the quilt. We just use Moda muslin for the backing which cuts down on the expense of buying coordinating fabric. Another idea is to make "I Spy" quilts. There were numerous people of this board who sent me squares and I was able to make two quilts from the donated squares. That quilt goes together quickly too Good luck on your project. What a wonderful way to share your gifts.

What about just fabric on each side, batting of course and maybe you could applique or embrodier names on each to make them personal?

It is barely 3 weeks until the big day

everyone can iron-------I'd ask her to help with that if she has the time. and she can pin without knowing how to sew.

4 of us made almost 40 very simple blankets last summer. One gal doens't even sew on buttons, but she was invaluable for ironing and pinning. A second gal was good at layering the fabric. My sis in law and I sewed. We worked well as a team and no one was standing around. When it came time to tack, Ms No Sew tied the tack threads after SIL and I put the thread onto the quilt.

You are so sweet, thank you. I will pick the first and the third because of the size, but they are all very nice. Can't thank you enough it has really lightened my load.

Wow how time flies and thanks to online angels I think I can make it. I have a friend that may help me quilt, because that takes almost or more time than making a top. Sure glad to get all the kind words from you all and I just keep thinking of the kids and how they will feel special getting them. Thanks again.

Received # 2 and # 3 today and they are great, but please tell me how you joined the front and back of #2. I really looked it over and can't tell and I really like the look. Couldn't believe how fast they got here and again I thank you so much.

I just stitched them wrong sides together (like you would do for a comforter, leaving a little opening, then "birthed" it, turned the opening to the inside and hand stitched it closed. Then to give it a more finished look, I just topstitched it.
Thanks for letting me know they arrived safe and sound!

    Glad I could help!
