i love eleanor burns. i love the story of her start in quilting. she is a great teacher. her patterns are easy and her instructions are very easy to understand.

I couldn't pick a favorite, but some of the ones I really admire - and whose patterns/books I buy - Judy Martin, Judy Niemeyer, Nancy Chong.

Judy Martin's piecing instructions have helped me immensely. Judy Niemeyer's paper pieced patterns are gorgeous. And Nancy Chong is a hoot! That woman has more energy than anyone I've ever met.

I like alot of them, however I tend to like Anne Sutton. Her patterns are so cute to work.

As a shop owner and teacher, I appreciate patterns that are not just visually pleasing, but are well written and include multiple sizes. I've found some adorable patterns, but in order to teach them or kit them, I've pretty much had to re-write the instructions in order for the average person to understand them. Too much work!

Two designers that meet my above criteria are Eleanor Burns (Quilt in a Day) and Terry Atkinson (Atkinson Designs). Of course there are many other good ones out there but those are the first two that came to mind.

It changes from time to time. It used to Lynette Jensen (Thimbleberries) and now it is Kim Diehl. She spoke at our guild meeting and she was so inspirational.
