Why do we get so attached to our sewing machines?

My grandma gave me a Singer when I graduated from high school. 20 years later I traded it in at a dealer for a newer one to sew my sisters wedding gown. A few hours later I went to the dealer and asked if I could buy it back. He told me he was expecting me...he could tell I was emotionally attached.

I think this is exactly why. This machine helps us fulfill our creative side and we can make beautiful, practical and comforting items with it.

I have to say that I love my new shower far more than any of my sewing machines.
But I love my sewing machine a LOT more than I like my alarm clock!! Heck, I like my husbands circular saw better than my alarm clock.

Not at all. It's because it is something you name, touch, talk to and spend many hours with. Your machine becomes a part of you, or like having a sister, or a best friend. So it only stands to reason if they become ill, it causes distress.

Its the same thing I feel for my Hummer that I drive everyday. But my 1st love is my 95 Camaro convertible that lives under a cover in our garage most of the time.
We don't have to share our machines with anyone. They don't talk back (well sometimes the is "tension" in the room!) Lol. And we can create master pieces with our own hands.
