Why do we get so attached to our sewing machines?

For me, it's more practical than sentimental. It's overwhelming to use a new machine with things even slightly rearranged. Also, there might be different/new features to figure out. I just have more of a rhythm with a familiar machine.

Its not the expense of a new machine ... but something else ..... So why so much attachment ?
Is this odd? , should I book time on the "couch".

i have been thru some difficult times with the loss of my child and my sewing machine has helped me thru some of my darkest day.
for me, the loss of the machine would be like losing a friend that has dried away many of my tears.
