I made a 12 block sampler just to see if I liked doing those blocks. It will be used as a lap quilt, but if it were big enough for a bed it would get used there. No one can tell you not to. ;-)

I have made a couple and love doing them! Both are Queen size. I credit a lot of "growth" as a quilter with doing them! And they are so fun to do different blocks using different techniques!

Definitely used on the bed as a work of art!

The first and second ones I made were both samplers, and both are on beds (the first one was KING size..ah gee, what a time I had with that one, esp for a first attempt).

Oh! I love your sampler quilt, Donnajean!! It is so pretty and inviting! Thanks for posting a picture of your sampler quilt. I guess it would be a good idea to have this discussion in the picture forum, because I guess that all of you would have beautiful things to show us.

Thanks for the compliment on my Sampler quilt. When my sister got me into quilting back in 1996, she insisted & even paid for me to take a class. Well, I thought I was teaching the class. There were about 12 people in the class & no machines were brought to class. The instructor would demonstrate a black, give us some hand written directions, & you were supposed to go home & create your own block. There were a couple beginner sewers that were still trying to learn how to thread a machine. I'm a retired teacher, so shortly after, I taught sewing/quilting at a local sew-n-vac shop. I would have beginners make a quilted pot holder & then a lap/baby quilt. I made sure that they completed the project start to finish. I remember how proud they would be of their 1st pot holder.
