I’m making a quilt with an applique peacock for a friend of mine. I want to do two layers of batting One will be warm and natural for the whole quilt Then for the peacock I was going to add a wool batting for just the peacock and outline the feathers in superior metallic thread. I thought I had some wool batting but I don’t. I have very puffy polyester batting that might be suitable. What do you think?
if I use wool batting should I prewash the batting? Everything else is prewashed. . I don’t want the quilt to be wrinkled if it needs to be washed. It’s a wall hanging arty quilt.
thanks for your sage advice.

I know a lot of ladies love the Hobbs Washable Wool batting. I get good results with the Hobbs Tuscany Poly, for about half the price. If your poly is too thick, you can split the layers to make it thinner.
It sounds like it will be an amazing quilt. I hope you will post pictures when it's finished!
