OK.. I've made quilts, and I've sewn brocades but I've never made a brocade quilt.. however, here are some basics.
Most brocades are NOT what I would consider "washable" they are mid to heavy weight fabrics so if I was making a project with them I would lean toward like weight fabrics.. possibly satins, tapestry, and heavier silks. a crazy type quilt would be lovely. and keep in mind that a lot of the brocades I've dealt with tend to ravel. Oh.. bits of ribbon are nice in crazy quilts also.

I haven't used it, but my grandmother did. She made a bowtie quilt and used all kinds of fabric in it. So far it has been washed many times and has held up ok. She used everything in her quilts. I have a king size cathedral window spread made with double knits. Talk about heavy.
