Default Working on crazypatch quilt for the first time!

I'm wanting to make a small wallhanging of five inch blocks, just to find out if I like crazypatch quilting. Have one question, do you do the decorative stitching before the small blocks are pieced together or after all the blocks are sewn together? Thanks for the help!

sew them together-then do decorative stitching.

Your decorative stitching should cover your seams.

Your decorative stitching can cover the seams, or not. I've seen it both ways. A popular motif was a spiderweb worked in the L shape of a corner patch.

Well, I have a new sewing machine, a Viking Opal 670. It has more decorative stitches than I've seen on some expensive machines; so that was part of my reason for making the crazypatch quilt and I have an area over my desk where all the cables for the tv and cable box are showing. Thought it would be a perfect place for a small wallhanging and get to try out some of the new stitches on this great machine!
