Default Would You Call the Plaited Block a Tessellation?

I know that pieces seem to continue into the next block, but I was wondering if there are any other factors that catagorize it.

Nope, not a tessellation. It's just a regular quilt block that has a secondary pattern. Many do.

Tessellations are shapes, a patteern of repeated, interlocking shapes.

This is a Celtic Twist block. Here is a link for the pattern http://www.mccallsquilting.com/patte...html?idx=13782

Well, even if it is not, I sure do like it. I made a picture (actually several) in my EQ5. I played around with browns, and greens, then put in some blue. I want to make one someday when I get enough fabric of the right colors for my eyes. Does anybody know if it has more than one name?

Great pattern, but not a tessellation. When I started quilting, I was told the tumbler quilts and GFG can be considered tessellations.

It looks like the Merry Go Round quilt that Jenny does a You Tube tutorial on at Missouri Star Quilt Co.
