I have thought of using the fine wale as a backing for it is so soft and cozy. I wouldn't use the wide wale bt that is just my choice.

What a novel idea! I think it would be a great idea. I personally would put the batting in it for 'substance'. I don't think it would be too heavy at all. (if you're using a thin corduroy that is!)

I have used it before, makes the quilt a little heavier, but so much the warmer. It's very durable and soft.

For the uninjured troops,possibly, but so many of the wounded have been hurt by IED's or roadside bombs. They so often have horrible burns. We have been told that even flannel is uncomfortable for burned skin and so take that into consideration.

Have and did use batting it keeps us very warm here in the winter

I made a corduroy quilt for my daughter and its all fine wale corduroy and I used flannel for batting and tied it. I used pincord for the backing, she says its warm and kinda heavy.
She loves it! All the squares are scraps from corduroy clothing I made for her about 10 years of her life.

I used a fine-wale corduroy as a backing for a denim quilt once & a very thin batt. it was heavier than usual but it was manageable and after 10 years of heavy use it's still pretty decent.

Haven't used corduroy yet, but I often use furnishing material to back my quilts. It gives them extra body and it holds dense quilting very well. The Victorians used velvet in their quilts, so corduroy is fairly similar.
