Neena,
The Singer 348 is a great machine. I got mine in the late 60's. Made clothing for myself and two babies. Finally upgraded to Singer Touch n Sew around 1975; wanted fancy stitches to make ice skating costumes, etc. BOTH THOSE OLD SINGERS STILL SEW GREAT. Now I have two Viking Designer I's because I wanted to do embroidery when I retired. However, I mostly do quilting now. My daughter has called "dibbs" on the blue singer. I'm waiting for tax refund check to pay for the Featherweight I found.
Enjoy your 348.

I bought a 347 which looks just like yours, just because of the color! I've had it for over a year and just tried it out. So far, not so good. It seems to sew fine till I put fabric under the presser foot! Guess I need to have it looked at. Congratulations on your great find!
