You are so engrossed in your sewing that you don't realize it 2AM, and you have to get up at 5:30 to go to work.

On your list of places you always go when you go out: Grocery store, bank, library, fabric store and then home. Am I boring or what!

You hand out business cards to perfect strangers telling them that when they get tired of their shirt, please let me know. I did have one man take the shirt off of his back right then and there. ( was working as a waitress in a resort and saw many nice shirts then. People on vacations tend to wear cool fish prints and many Hawiian.

Or when you are at the doctor, and you really should be worried because they want to give you ANOTHER breathing treatment for your asthma, and all you care about is if you could steal the nurse's blouse to cut it up for a quilt.

I want everyone to know that I am NOT a quilting addict! Just because I spend 8 - 12 hours in my sewing room does not make me an addict. If I were an addict:
1. My house would not be spotless - no, wait, ignore that one...
2. My family would not be fed daily hot, nutritious meals - hmmm, how long has it been since they have had a complete meal -OK ignore that one also.
3. My family's laundry would not be done, fresh smelling, nicely ironed... OK so my husbands shirts only get ironed when I am pressing seams on my quilt block and start to feel a bit guilty about him wearing "dryer ironed" shirts.
4. My children wouldn't always arrive at school on time - OMG is this a school day??? - where is my calendar - there it is under that bolt of OBW fabric!
ALL RIGHT - ignore the first statement about me not being a quilting addict. Now the question is - do I want help? I'll think about that after I get this binding done...

I didn't know there were so many other people like me- I love this blog because I now know I'm not alone in this passion of mine. Other people tend to think I'm a bit crazy

How about when friends and even people you hardly know show up at your door with new and recycled fabric!! LOL Just in case you have not seen this poem, I am including it here. I renamed it Wendy's Lament, as my partner is definitely a quilt widow LOL

Wendy`s Lament:
Addicted to Quilting
(Author unknown)

She learned to quilt on MONDAY.
Her stitches all were fine
She forgot to make us dinner
So we went out to dine

She made miniatures on TUESDAY
She says they are a must
They really were quite lovely
But she forgot to dust

On WEDNESDAY `twas a sampler.
She says stippling is fun
What highlights! What shadows!
But the laundry wasn't done

Nine patches were on THURSDAY
Green,yellow,blue and red.
I guess she really was engrossed
Didn`t even make the bed.

It was wall hangings on FRIDAY.
In colours she adores
It never bothered her at all
That crumbs were on the floors

I found a maid on SATURDAY
My week is now complete
Marilyn can quilt the hours away
Our trailer will be neat

Well, it's already SUNDAY
I think I`m about to wilt
I cursed, I raved, I ranted
Cause she taught the maid to quilt!

...the Hoarders tv crew lurks outside your windows.
....you eat dinner on tv trays because the cutting mats and rulers are on the dining room table.
....you have to remove quilt blocks from your bed before you can get in it at night.
....someone announces they are having a baby and you say, Oh good, another quilt!
