Ok, looked it up and saw it described as a "compilation" from their magazines. Then at the McCall's Patterns site they describe the 1000 blocks book this way:

This value-packed book celebrates the milestone of reaching 1000 quilt blocks in the 100 block series by Quiltmaker magazine.

So it would appear i already have those blocks. Yay!

Gorgeous blocks!

Just spent the last 90 minutes thumbing through every page in 1000 Blocks. I have some ideas for a few blocks.

I like that second block too. It's called "Perfect Petals", but you know I love stars. The center of the star was supposed to be a different color, but I made it my way. It's from Quiltmaker's 1000 Blocks too. I'm really liking this book. It was my Christmas present to me.

I do google image searches for "unusual quilt blocks" or something similar find images I like and figure out how to make them, or use an image idea and tweak it and figure out a way to make what is in my head. That is the fun part for me.

There are so many block patterns online, in books, etc.! Sometimes it gets overwhelming if I'm searching for a pattern that is 'just right.' I can end up not deciding which to use, and then never start my project. After this last churn dash quilt top that I made for a friend, I made another top (for my sister) to use up extra setting triangles from the first top, and while cutting those churn dash blocks I cut out a duplicate set of floral blocks for a top for myself. Today I cut out churn dash blocks for a baby quilt. Four churn dash tops! Just now it made me think, "Why do I save so many block patterns, if I'm going to use the same one all the time?"

I have all the 100 block magazines 1-15 except #2. Dont know if I loaned that one to someone or just dont have it. hmmmm. In my Vol 3 of 2011 the cross track is #257. It sure isnt as pretty as the one you made! I wont use a lot of the patterns because so many are pp or applique but Ive used a lot of them already. Was kind of dissapointed in Vol 15 blocks. Ive found when you make a block out of there with different colors than in the book you either love it or not so much like it. Vol 3 was by far my favorite. I have little yellow post it notes sticking out of the blocks Ive made and would make again. Yours is going to be very beautiful Terri!

I have downloaded the 100 block magazines also but like looking at them when not on computer. Didn’t realize you could buy it in a book. Thanks for the info I ordered it and can’t wait to spend way to much time looking at it.

My go to pattern book is Aound the block. It’s fabulous and lists different size patterns for the same block

Thanks Terri... I found both Around the Block and Around the Block Again on Amazon and ordered them! There is also a third volume, plus she has a '501 Rotary Cut Blocks' book too.
