Anyone see the Northern Lights tonight? Here in NC we were able to see them for the first time tonight. They were gorgeous! Bright pink and orange fading to blues and purples with a shot of occasional green. My great niece is a photographer so hopefully we will have some pictures tomorrow. This was a once in a lifetime occurrance here. I am so glad that I have lived long enough to experience this first hand. Those brilliant shifting colors was mind blowing!

LC, congrats on your new hobby! You’re going to love it! For many years we had an 8 inch Celestron. The tracking on it eventually failed but we used it periodically to see so many objects. Finally gave it away when we moved three years ago. Be sure to check out the Pleiades, the terminator (line of light and dark) on the Moon and Orion’s Belt areas. These are easily found. Just so many amazing celestial object to see and photograph. Hope you’ll share some of your pix. Have fun!

I forgot to look for the northern lights last night but.................it was cloudy and raining after dark and well into the night.

Just checked with my friend Mr. Google and I may be able to see the lights tonight and/or tomorrow! Whoo Hoo! A second chance.

LC have fun with your new hobby and love the froggy quilt

We could see the Northern lights but only through taking pictures with our phone. Very disappointing. Libster so glad you had the chance to see them.

Okay, here’s my first try at taking astronomy pictures! It was a clear sky last night with a crescent moon. I used a blue and red planetary filter lens and then a plain one. It was fun but tricky!
