WMUTeach - so many unique groups. Saturday we went to a bazaar and there was a women selling jewelry - we both looked at each other and started down the list of groups we belonged to until we hit a matching group!! We both knew we knew each other!!
Working on the boom blocks. And every block is so perfect. Sometimes I "need" to sash to get them equal, but this time they were all 12.5 inch. Thank you!

I have two sets of Boom blocks to assemble into quilt tops, but this is what I have been doing instead.

It is a variation of Lori Holt's Scrappiness is Happiness that my quilt group has been doing as a BOM. I eliminated most of the novelty blocks and replaced them with other blocks that I like. I am to the point that I am joining rows with sashing and then rows together. You will see there are two blocks missing, yes indeed. I need to make two more to fill in those spaces. Thought I had them all done but alas, I guess not. One photo is of my inspector. ZuZu making sure points are pointy and seams are straight. The second photo is the after inspection conference. She had a lot to say most of which was "pawsative".

Love seeing Zuzu. Hope she enjoyed holding the blocks down so they don't blow away. What a cuddly looking cat she is.

Today the power company's crew of about 8 men is here, cutting our dead pine trees down. The 5 months of drought last year did them in. They got infested with beetles in their weakened state, and have been slowly dying. The crew has already cut about 100 trees and they are not done. I feel like crying to see my forest all lying on the ground. We need a portable sawmill to make something usable out of this beautiful wood.

I'm off to sort and start wrapping the Christmas gifts. Gotta mail the box to Iowa a.s.a.p.! Hope you all are having a great day.

WMT Zulu looks pretty happy holding your gorgeous quilt blocks down and have fun you party girl.

Hubby did me a huge favor today, he wrapped the majority of the gifts. Now he has his unique way of gift wrapping. He uses one entire roll before he starts another one. No matter how much I ask him to use different ones so we have a variety under the tree. Today I was just plain thrilled when he offered to take care of them.

Chocolate crinkle batter is in the frig, I will bake the cookies this evening, a big batch of chocolate chip cookies are cooling. Plan on making more macaroons and Russian tea cakes and that will be it for today.

Sewbiz how sad to see all the trees on the ground? Does the county do this service for free?

Terri, it was the electric company that cut the trees, just all the ones around our power lines. There are probably hundreds more that we have to cut ourselves, that are not threatening the power lines. I'll try and take a pic tomorrow. It looks like a huge logging operation! So many of these trees are so old and so tall and big around. Such a shame.

Holding down the blocks makes me smile. When I turn my back she is often busy rearranging them to her own liking. Fun it but it often means more pressing. She is creative in her arrangements of blocks. Another reason for another larger design wall.

WMUTeach, Zuzu your sewing assistant, seems quite capable! She’s doing a fine job. Terriamn, your cookies sound wonderful! My DH did all the wrapping too. He’s just ultra stingy with the paper and struggles to make the ends meet. I don’t care, I’m not doing it. SBG, I’m sorry to hear about your pines. It’s unquestionably a loss.

So I finished quilting DH’s quilt. Now to put the binding on, wash it and wrap it up. He’s been giving me his opinion on it through various stages and I’m just laughing to myself. It’s not quilted as perfectly as I hoped. The slippery and stretchy backing was much more of a challenge than I expected but it’s done. He’ll have to just ride that galloping horse when he uses it.

Heading to the grands house shortly for a few hours. DDIL is ill and we’re going to spell her for a bit so she can get some rest. I hope.

I love wrapping - it puts me in the mood. DH doesn't help with any of it - just agrees with whatever I decide!
Finished the Boom quilt and its in washer. Will get a photo later.
Have a Womens Christmas luncheon at the church today - the men are doing all the set up and serving. Made a few ornaments for the swap. Will be a relaxing afternoon getting to know some of the gals.
Janice it is so great that you get to give your DDIL a rest. How I recall being under the weather and wanting a fairy grandma to come to the rescue.

Good evening, Squirrels. Well, I just finished my quilt for DH. Struggled for a couple of hours getting the binding on nicely but it’s good now. DH watched the process since sandwiching and all I can do is act like it isn’t for him. He really likes it so I hope he’ll be pleased when he opens up the package next week.

Turns out DDIL took the opportunity of us watching the girls to get out of the house instead of resting. I gather it was a full day with them and she needed a break.

Was looking at Ernie and all his fur has grown in and he looks like a regular dog now.

All our shopping is done except for a birthday card for DDIL as the 25th is also her birthday. I’ll pick one up tomorrow.

Have a nice evening.

Ernie is a regular dog now, yay! It was his lucky day when you found him.

I am nearly done with my wrapping. All done with shopping. We'll carry it all to Memphis when we go in a few days. So relieved to be done! The crowds anywhere near shopping areas are just unbelievable. Yesterday was my day with 3 dr. appts., and all were up in the heavily trafficked areas. My mammo and dr. visits all checked out well. That was a blessing!
