No in or out today. Did get some blocks from the other groups. I made my very first paper pieced block. Wanted to see if I could do it. It took me all day to do this one little 6 inch block. LOL I truly take my hat off to anyone who does paper piecing.

You guys are some of the first to know this: I just received word that I have received the Alegre Quilt Art Camp Scholarship for 2013! It is in Colorado in April for 5 days in a beautiful retreat center. I want to take the shibori dyeing and design class, that will help me in my work at Pike Place Market, but otherwise I'll take a class with Katie Pasaquini-Masopust. The other instructor is Joan Meyers-Newbury. Oh, I am so excited!!!!!!

Here's the link to the program: http://www.alegreretreat.com/alegre.htm

I got almost 12 blocks sewn today but not all in time for the mail pick up - so a bunch will be going out on Monday. If you click on the link below, there are pictures of everything I've made, everything I've received, and a link to my tracking spreadsheet with dates & block names.

MamaHauser ... your quick!!! I finished your block today, hope you like it. If you want to peek it's in my album. I ended up going with a non-directional block.
May your stitches always be straight, your seams always lie flat, and your grain never be biased against you.

    Ladies,
I just want to take a moment to remind you all of a couple of things (these are just gentle reminders and my duty as hostess not aimed at any one person in particular )
1). Please remember to measure your blocks before sending them home. They should be 12.5" square. Not 13" not 11.25" but 12.5".
2). If someone asks for you to use their fabric a specific way or to not use specific colors, please abide by their wishes.
3). We have FOUR months to make blocks. There is no need to rush to get them done in two weeks. Sometimes rushing through looses the thought put in to the perfect block or color or even the correct size. This swap is designed to expand your block base, your color comforts and your friends
4). Any questions, complaints or anything of the sort...please PM me.
    Hugs
    April

    Comment:
Recently several members asked for black. I asked for black on Boom 8 and got quite a variety for "black". It turned out great anyhow, but I expected black to be ...black.

    My Bee and the folks at City Quilter think Michael Miller makes the best black. To keep things simple and to have scraps that match, that is what I am using. Unless the block calls for a softer black or a black blender. Just an observation;
use your own good judgement !!

I have found that sometimes it is very very very hard to match a black.

Isn't it amazing the various degrees of colors in black. I am sending home a block to Ahwu. Hope you like it.

Black is one of the most difficult colors to match, no matter if it's paint, paper, fabric, they are aaaalllll different!

On a side note: my F8's are all in the mail today. Thank you for your patience!
