I'm leary about donating to them again, I know they do good, but she

Oh Lynnie, that doesn't sound good. Not to mention it didn't generate the $$$ you donated the quilt for. Silly lady to cut off her own nose, so to speak, just so she got to keep the quilt.

Our temperatures have been dropping slowly all day, and now it's cold. By the end of the week may have some snow. I have my fuzzy socks on right now.

Lynnie, that shelter lady must've kept that raffle a secret! So unfair!

I crochet & knit. In fact, my very first afghans 'way back when were crocheted ripple afghans; I was 19-20 at the time. None of those exist any more, but the reversible afghan I made my mother around the same time now belongs to my oldest daughter, who is currently making her first crocheted afghan in the ripple stitch! I mostly knit these days.
I think of myself as a quilter who knits, though. I like to make smaller, knitted items, like socks, mittens, hats. It's been a long time since I made an afghan or a sweater!

The only thing I knit are dishcloths and I'll bet since the 1960's I've knitted 2000 of them,my mom use to buy them off me for gifts for her friends and I still make about 50 a year...Not the best knitting but it works... I just give them away... I did make slippers and other things when my kids were young in the 60's and early 70's. No more, the last thing was a baby sweater never finished it...

I started knitting a ripple afghan many years ago (brown and orange). Can you tell me what time period that was? I got about 1/4 finished and quit. I don't even remember what happened to it.

Dwina I think you are the coldest. It's 25 now and only going up to 29. I make the kitty blankets for Kitten Krazy and the Portage County animal shelter. Then I knit mittens and slippers for Sunset Gap, Tn through the craft guild that I used to belong to. I did make more mittens for Good Neighbors. I also made fleece mittens for the Polar Express. Here's a pic of the mittens I had left and it's blurry because I had to get the camera out of the car and it was warming up

Pat that is so nice of you donating all the kitty blankets and mittens. That certainly is a lot of work. The mittens are also very nice. I got a ripple afgan kit, throw size, and will take out the directions and try to make one for DD's kitty. He has a hammock that attaches to the glass french doors. His hammock is vinyl and up near the glass this winter he could get chilly. My fishing crew are broke down, the handle on the winch broke, so they will be coming home. DD says it is cold and the seas are rough. I hate having them work on the water in the winter.
