I found that width differed in my fabrics, too, so some are a little wider and some a little less that 22". I did not think it was an issue. That's the way the fabric was made. I cut a half yard and cut it in half.

As to the 50's fabric someone mentioned, I for one would love it! Memories, memories!

Here's a link from craftybear regarding FQ ideas.

http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-143984-1.htm

From reading the messages here it looks like a few of you may have enough fabric for a trip around the world quilt or wall hanging!

We'll have to share pictures of our swap and then our projects. How cool is that!!!

I'm so sorry to hear of your brother's passing. What a blessing for you both to be together. Prayers will be going your way.

Wow I thought if I sent in about 10 I was doing good! I will probably stick to that only because of the shipping costs! But we will see how it goes!

Hi, I'm in Sweden and totally new to this quilting game!

I'm going to be buying in metres too and am now really confused as to what sizer a Fat Quarter should be.

There is normally a stack of Fat Quarters in the fabric shop that I use so I could go and sneakily measure those ... however if I join in I was going to go to Ikea and get a half metre of scnadinavian printed cotton as I know there are some here that are not available in the UK, and I hope therefore not available in other lands either! There is a cranberry red floral on cream which is incredibly 'typical' as are the children's printed cottons with repeated animals, very often in just one bright colour over a background colour. I was just going ot buy one half metre length and then see how many Fat Quarters I can make ...

Would it be possible to ask for botanical prints in return? It sounds as though Carsey is going to have millions of FQs to sort through so perhaps that would be mean ... but my quilt is to be a garden and I am worried that I going ot find it very veyr difficult to find natural looking flower, grass or leaf prints for my different garden beds ... the idea of a section of international plants is a very exciting one! Otherwise, no matter, as I guess it will just be a way of starting a stash to inspire other projects!

What sort of cotton do I need to used for the signature squares? I won't be able to sew them, I don't think, as I have barely started this activity and have only the vaguest idea of how I will be doing my own - English Paper Piecing because that's all that I know for the patchwork topper bit!

Best Wishes to Carsey and family at this difficult time, some day you will be able to think of your brother again with smiles as well as tears, and I hope that day comes soon for you.
