Jaba-- sounds like you're in for a great treat when your quilt room is ready!

I had a problem presented to me that I wanted to bring up with everyone here and see what their thoughts on this are. I hope everyone weighs in on this please!

The gifts sent on top of the mug rugs are beautiful and truly appreciated. That said its hard for people on limited or restricted incomes to afford to send extras with postage getting to be so very high. What are your feelings if we restricted the gifts to tea or a fat quarter but that is it? it would make this something more could play in and more would be comfortable with sending. I don't want to steal anyones joy but I also don't want to make it too hard to afford either. I am looking for your thoughts. I want to make this fun for EVERYONE. and I know this is not the first time I have heard this concern. Please toss in your thoughts!

I like that idea Linda. I am in another mug rug swap and that is our rule, the next month we had lots more participants and the mug rugs were mailed earlier because people didn't have to go and find more goodies.

I hate to see restrictions added just because one or two complain. The extra gifts are just that... extra. No one has to send them but some of us like to make our packages a little more fun for the recipient. If I am "banned" from giving from my heart then I probably won't partake of this swap anymore.

Linda, you do not have to fix everything that is a problem for someone.

If someone sends me a lovely mugrug and a kind note, and will perhaps chat with me during the swap, I feel that I have been rewarded immensely. If I am told what I can and cannot send in my package, it won't be fun for me anymore and I will likely just drop in occasionally to see the mug rugs, but won't swap myself. I get a bit "stubborn" when people tell me what kind of extras I can or cannot send and if I do choose to swap, won't follow the rules on that anyway...so sorry Linda...but you did ask for honest opinions...I'm a baaaaaadddddd girl!!!! Naughty Ronda who will send extras regardless of what the rules are.

On the 1st page of this thread are the rules 1-3. You are signing up to make and send a mug rug...that's it! If you send something else with it or not to me that's your business. You have fulfilled the swap obligation once it is mailed. l also feel your #4 should not even be stated, it has nothing to do with the swap. Think that's called personal preference. Just my opinion, haven't heard anyone complain when I send 2 instead of 1 mugrug. If that's the case then I can "only send 1??? Better go get to the basement and shut my mouth

Oh Elisabrat, I don't envy you gathering these eggs

I admit to being intimidated by all the 'extras' folks are including in their packages. A while back I was involved in this swap and we sent only the mug rugs. Somewhere along the line extra goodies got included. And that's fine. And fun.

Now, in the initial conversation with my swap partners, right out of the gate we discuss if we will include extras or not. Some months I know I will not have time for going the extra mile but if I do, then it is my gift to my swappie. Some months are diamonds, some coal

As long as there is a clear understanding/agreement between partners, what's the harm either way?

    best,
    deb in Maine

I agree... send what you can or want to send. We know what we are to receive and if we get something extra then WOOHOO. Maybe we should only post a picture of the mugrug and not any of the extras.

This complaining is almost getting to be too much for me. This is supposed to be our happy place. Jaba put it wonderfully. The rules state....the deadline to send is... we all know what is expected from us and have agreed to play nicely by these rules when we send our PM in to join up. Oh Brat, I do not envy you, BUT I DO LUV YOU!!!
