Thanks,
I love machine quilting, and have never done hand quilting so I thought on a small project it would be good to try!
Do i need a hoop or something to keep the quilt tight?

Also how do i start as in hide the knot to start with?

Lots of tutorials on hand quilting. This is a great way to start!

I don't use a hoop never have. I hold the fabric and stitch where my fingers are. Just pin it real good. You can make a knot in the end and pop through the fabric, or you can stitch about an inch then double back on it, and stitch like normal. So stitch in one direction, like go left for about and inch, then switch and go right. Stiching through the stitches you just made. This will catch the thread in the fabric. Both work well.

You pull the knot thru into where the batting is so it doesn't show. A hoop will help but you can also roll it this also makes it a little tighter. MHO

I have all of my material, still working on ideas for a pattern. Wow, lots of people are finished with their tops already, great work!

No, mine is 2/3 done, the other 3rd is in the drawing board. Plus I need to go buy more material, red is a color that I rarely use.
