I forgot to say thanks for the tag for my princessa Zoey. her birthday is on the 27th, creeping in on us, she will be 3.
her boyfriend (a tuxedo cat) got a helicopter for Christmas, so now her royal highness wants one too. I keep telling her she's an indoor cat, but she wants one anyway. such dealing with the Diva!!! if not, she wants a stretch pearl white limo, she's a Russian blue, and feels she'd shine in it. 'thnks for the gift for Zoey

lynnie, you are too kind and i'm thrilled that you like both the pincushions. i think that the elephant pattern came from tipnut's second collection of pincushions. look her up online, of course. try the needle felting. you have great talent and it is surprisingly easy and fun. i got a great starter kit at weir's dolls and craft. then, of course, I wanted to buy more and more every month. you can find lots of tutorials and examples on pinterest. go crazy from there. i say that if zoey wants a helicopter for her birthday then you should get her one. a stretch limo is nice, but nothing says "i have arrived" the way your own personal flying machine does.

lynnie, it's a cute jar of beach sand, not spices. and the mountain lion is a bobcat.

to lynnie and tracey and anyone else who likes the elephant pincushions, i found the pattern by searching for free softies or free plushies. the elephant and a cute puppy were found at http://www.craftpassion.com/2012/03/...g-pattern.html. or it may have been http......-elephant-family-........ html. it has a mom elephant and baby elephant size. of course, you could reduce or enlarge to any size. i used the baby elephant for the pincushion. it has a design flaw in the belly piece that causes the legs to splay out. it's an easy fix, but i decided that the splayed legs were so much cuter on the elephant. i, therefore, made it just as the original tutorial said to. it's a pretty easy pattern, but absolute accuracy will make it much easier to insert the belly.

Thanks for the pattern link and the tip. My sister has always loved elephants, but she is not a quilter (or seamstress at that matter either) but would enjoy a little friend just as well.
