November Scrappy Hunter's Star block swap

    SCRAPPY HUNTER'S STAR BLOCK SWAP

Welcome to our Hunter's Star block swap. We will be making scrappy Hunter's Star blocks 8 ½” unfinished using the easier piecing method pictured below. This is an example only to show the pattern. You do not need to use a ‘gold’ or yellow print for half of the Hunter’s Star block.

    Name: Hunters Star quilt block.jpg
Views: 730
Size: 51.2 KB

Please use one print for half of the block shown in ‘gold’ and a neutral light-colored fabric for the other half of the quilt block. The goal is a good light/dark contrast. Please check the internet for examples of Scrappy Hunter’s Star quilts for ideas and inspiration!

Print fabric: (same print per block)
    4 ½” square

Light colored fabric: (same print per block)
    4 ½” square

There are lots of choices available for the light side of our Hunter’s Star blocks! Think: neutrals or small prints with a white or off-white background.

8 Half Square Triangles (HST’s) 2 ½” unfinished from the print/light background fabric.

We will be making these blocks in sets of six. You may send as many as 6 sets of six blocks (36 blocks) to be swapped. To sign up, please PM me with:

    Your screen name
    Your real name
    Address/city/state/zip

The mailing deadline is NOVEMBER 15TH. Please include $6.80 IN POSTAGE for a return Padded Flat Rate Envelope. PLEASE LABEL YOUR QUILT BLOCKS. Any blocks not labeled will be returned unswapped.

BE SURE to include your full mailing address. As long as we have at least 8 swappers we will be making and swapping Hunter's Star blocks each month (except December) so we all will have a great scrappy assortment for our quilts!!

    Let’s get started!!

I'm in the process of buying a new house so I'm very preoccupied right now with all the paperwork, documents, etc. It's a huge undertaking and will be worth it when I'm finished.

I guarantee you I'll be hanging a gorgeous quilt in my living room behind my couch. Can't wait!!!

Waiting for that blasted final loan approval. Buying a house is the most grueling insane process!!! It's one of the most stressful things to go through. I've bought homes before but with the new changes in the lending process, it's practically torture!!! AAAAAAhhhhhh!!! ((running screaming into the night. . . ))

Reminder to everyone: we WILL NOT be swapping in December because of the holidays and because I'll probably be curled up in a corner - - - -

Hi ladies, I wanted to share a quilt I made from some of my swap blocks from here. I would call these blocks pastel.

I think I'm going to add one more 4 1/2" white border around the whole thing. Then it will be ready for quilting. Then I will move on to the other blocks I've received and start the next Hunter Star Quilt. I know that when I receive my blocks back this month, I will have enough for a Queen size quilt plus extra blocks for something else. Maybe a table topper or table runner?......

Thank you again Jane for hosting this exchange. I've really enjoyed making these blocks. They are just challenging enough for me to keep me interested in finishing the top but not too challenging that I quit.
